Benjamin Pant

Biography

Benjamin Pant grew up in the U.K. and Nepal and studied at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester with Thomas Kemp. He undertook an Erasmus year at the Hochschule für Musik FRANZ LISZT in Weimar, where he was taught by Rosa Donata Sailer.

Benjamin has been living in Berlin since 2016 and works as a freelance violinist with orchestras and chamber ensembles, as well as on recording sessions, throughout Germany and beyond.

In the season 2023/2024 he has a contract in the orchestra of the Komische Oper Berlin and regularly plays as a guest with the MDR-Sinfonieorchester in Leipzig, the Brandenburgisches Staatsorchester Frankfurt (Oder) and the Jenaer Philharmonie.

Also an active chamber musician, Benjamin has been playing with dogma chamber orchestra since 2019, with whom a recording of Mendelssohn’s String Symphonies won an ECHO Klassik award. He has also been a member of the Deutsches Kammerorchester Berlin since 2022.

Benjamin also organises his own chamber projects, which have included a performance of Beethoven’s Septet with a live stream from the Tiergarten in Berlin.

Additionally, in his series “kammerspeise” (in German “Kammer” = chamber, “Speise” = food) he combines curated chamber programmes with cuisine from varying cultures, creating an informal atmosphere for cultural exchange between the musicians and guests.
